In Sai's manga "The Legend of Silver", another of Sai's forms, via his Godly Multi-form Technique, Sai's form "Silver the Elf" has battled Madara's Ninetails in an Underground cavern and changes the timeline, so Madara's Ninetails, from when he was a Pokemon Trainer, could not leave a certain Red Crystal...and while Sai can't speak for other colossus tailed beast, Sai can guarantee that "Kurama" never even reaches Mito Uzumaki, and that in a timeline where Naruto is born, there is no Ninetails for him to have...unless some other beast is there...
